A leading Canadian utilities company providing electricity to more than 240 communities. 

The company’s strategy hinges on maintaining a competitive edge as a leading utility while maximizing efficiency. Senior leadership saw increasing productivity and reducing costs as an important piece of the overall strategy. 


Challenge

Senior leaders could see that a variety of technological challenges were standing in the way of future gains and strategic success.  

  • Outdated Systems: The legacy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform no longer met the evolving needs of the company and was impeding its agility and responsiveness to market dynamics.

  • Asset Optimization: The Plant Maintenance (PM) module needed a major upgrade to start improving operational efficiency and reliability through improved machinery and asset optimization.

  • IS-U Meter-to-Cash: Streamlining its processes for the Integrated System for Utilities (IS-U) to enhance the meter-to-cash process, which includes meter reading, billing, and customer service.

  • EAM Efficiency: Managing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) data, particularly master data and linear master data concepts, had become increasingly challenging. The need for efficiency gains in EAM processes to reduce manual efforts and errors was evident.
