S.i. Systems delivered a practical and proven vehicle to increase Indigenous equity in the Bank’s Canadian contingent workforce management program through its robust Flo-ThruTM contractor payrolling program
Client
Diversity initiatives are front and center for S.i. Systems’ longtime client, one of the Big 5 banks in Canada. The purpose-driven multinational financial institution supports a thriving economy and inclusive society.
Challenge
The bank has a dedicated mission of contributing to the economic self-sufficiency of Indigenous communities across Canada. To meet a goal of hiring Indigenous employees and businesses, supporting their growth , the bank sought to strengthen recruitment partnerships with diversified talent suppliers.
Solution
S.i. Systems proposed a solution enabling the bank to work with a certified Aboriginal-owned entity recruitment partner, Tato Recruiting, backed by Canada’s largest IT staffing agency. Working in concert with the bank’s Program Office and incumbent MSP provider, S.i. Systems established a program to:
- onboard direct client-sourced contractors and competitively recruited Indigenous talent
- introduce consistent and compliant processes to onboard, manage, and pay contractors
- seamlessly integrate with incumbent suppliers and systems with minimal disruption
- direct spending to an Indigenous-owned recruiting firm in support of the firm’s purpose
Outcomes
Within the program’s first two years, more than 250 client-sourced independent contractors have been onboarded and processed through the Tato Recruiting-S.i. Systems joint venture. The bank benefits from proper classification, rate consistency, and full compliance across its contractor network.
Additionally, the bank both directly and indirectly impacts Indigenous communities through this initiative, as a portion of profits is returned to the National Association of Friendship Centres and other grantees.
